Custom MTBMX Frame made of 6061 Aluminum

We offer hand crafted and personally engineered bicycle aluminum frames from both 7005 and 6061  based on the needs of the cyclist and the economic realities of the purchasers decision.  Regardless of the material, we offer the the widest choice of tube profiles, diameters and wall thickness and always the best for the application.

The Differences:

7005 (Seven “Double-Oh” 5):   Formulated with higher modules of elasticity, 7005 can be stressed further before being permanently deformed. The post weld heat treating  process known as “aging” is 600 degrees Fahrenheit as opposed to 6061 at over 900 degrees Fahrenheit, making it a simpler and quicker process.  Most of the commercially available butted tubes are 7005. We offer material from a variety of producers including  Dedacciai, Nova and custom pipes from TubePro. We also have a nice selection of straight gauge and heirloom tubes collected over the years. Production, semi-custom and full custom frame components are available.

6061 (Sixty- Sixty One):  A more complex

material for the frame builder as it provides more design control and ease of manipulation for butting and forming. 6061 is more expensive and time consuming in the form of a bicycle frame, as most of the components such as, dropouts, head tubes, and bottom bracket shells are all designed and produced in-house. Frames must be made in small batches to insure that the alignment process is completed correctly and with utmost precision. 6061 can be used to manufacture across a wide range of platforms including a very special road set by TubePro as well as Heirloom and straight-gauge drawn tubes.

  1. I have a Javelin Primitivo (2006) that I would like to convert to disc brakes. The fork part is easy, but I need a couple of cable stops and disc caliper tabs to make the rear work. Cable operated hydraulic discs. The frame is 7005 aluminum. Is this something you guys would do? If not, can you recommend someone? I have made numerous inquiries without so much as a return email. Thank you for your time.

  2. Hi Frank,

  3. Hello FTW, from the other side of the state!
Looking to get a road frame built out of titanium . Might be my last as I am older than dirt. Now in my 52 year of cycling and want to treat myself to a new bike. My son ( a professional bike mechanic out west) I can put the components on if I can find a good frame. Or could buy a finished bike…Is this a project your interested in discussing. 6. Frank repaired my 2001 Santa Cruz Chameleon frame years ago after I cracked it at the seatstay. I’m still riding this frame. Frank did a proper job with it. For those of you in need of repair get it to Frank while you still can. He may be the only guy in this country still working in aluminum. Would really love a Magneto frame from him.
